NatWest Markets is the investment banking arm of The Royal Bank of Scotland Group. It caters to thousands of customers and grants access to multiple trading markets from around the world.
Due to its considerable age, the website had not adapted well to the advent of numerous modern browsers and devices that are currently available - this affected the site’s usability and negatively impacted the user experience.
In addition to this, the front-end UX design of the website had not been updated for a significant period of time and subsequently did not reflect NatWest Markets’ image as an expansive and modern brand. New branding was developed by NatWest’s brand agency.
Improve customer experienceIt was important to create a positive experience – one which increases dwell time, triggers return visits, and ultimately generates leads for the business.
Make sure all customers are accounted for consistentlyUnlike the previous design, the new site had to be optimised for use on a wide-range of devices and browsers. This meant that all users of the site all received a consistent, responsive experience that was suitable for use within the fast-paced investment banking industry.
Enhance the brandIn order to showcase new branding, we had to integrate it with the front-end of the site. This meant that our design choices for the UX had to be carefully considered so that they remained within the guidelines of the brief but also made up part of a functioning, engaging site.
The Umbraco content management system underpins the NatWest Markets website, allowing for non-technical users to manage the site according to their needs. This includes customising the site layout or adding components to a page.
The Insights section provides invaluable segmented industry insight and guides users to relevant related content.
The NatWest Markets site is hosted on the cloud-based computing service Microsoft Azure. Additional DDoS Protection has been added to ensure full security of the environment.
Full penetration testing has also been completed.
