The festive season often brings with it the temptation to hibernate inside. However for the last few years, our team has embraced the winter air and embarked on a 100km walking challenge in December. This aims to encourage activity during a time when it’s easier to stay in and also gives us the opportunity to support some local charities.

Walking our way to wellness

Whilst the allure of cosy nights in is strong, the benefits of outdoor exercise, even in Winter, are undeniable. Just 10 minutes of movement can do wonders for your mood, stress levels and even productivity. This is particularly important during the Winter months, when shorter days and reduced sunlight can affect our wellbeing.

“This challenge provides an incentive to our team to get outside, boost wellbeing and give back to the community.”

Everyone taking part in the challenge found that incorporating walks into their daily routines improved physical health and also brought calm and focus amidst the festive bustle.

Supporting our community

The first three team members to conquer the 100km goal were given the opportunity to choose a charity for Storm ID to donate. This year, we are making donations to:

  • Citadel Youth Centre – who provides valuable resources and support for young people in Leith, from age 6 to 21, who are experiencing difficulties and/or come from a background of disadvantage.

A special thank you from Citadel Youth Centre

"From everyone at the Citadel - “THANK YOU!” All support is always gratefully received and by giving a donation you are helping to make life less stressful for children, young people and families who use our services and can sometimes get quite low with everyday pressures. You are a star!"
“Thank you for supporting the Salvesen Mindroom Centre with your generous donation. Your valuable gift helps us to make a real difference to the lives of neurodivergent children and young people, and their families.”
