Storm ID has been selected to deliver the Welsh Elections Information Platform for the Democracy & Boundary Commission Cymru. This marks an exciting opportunity to help strengthen democratic engagement across Wales. In this post, we reflect on the significance of the win and our ambition for the work ahead.

Building a trusted platform for democratic participation

Storm ID is delighted to have been appointed to design, develop and deliver the Welsh Elections Information Platform, a new digital service that will support voters, candidates and electoral administrators across Wales.

The platform will play a central role in delivering clear, accessible and trusted information about elections in Wales. We are proud to support the Democracy & Boundary Commission Cymru in shaping a service that will empower people to participate confidently and equally in the electoral process.

“This is a truly important project; one that will help make democracy more accessible, inclusive and transparent for everyone in Wales."

What we’ll be doing

Over the next 18 months, we’ll be working closely with the Commission, councils, candidates and the people of Wales to design and build a fully bilingual digital service that meets the needs of every user.

Our work will include:

  • Creating simple, clear journeys to help voters find the information they need
  • Enabling candidates and councils to submit and manage election information easily and securely
  • Designing inclusive content in both Welsh and English from the outset
  • Ensuring the service works for everyone, including people with accessibility needs
  • Supporting the Commission through each phase of delivery, from early research to post-election continuous improvement

We’ll be delivering the minimum viable version of the service in time for the 2026 Senedd election, with further enhancements to follow ahead of the 2027 Principal Council elections.

Working together to build something that matters

Delivering a service of this importance requires more than just technical capability.

It requires listening to users, respecting communities and embedding inclusion at every stage. That’s why we’re excited to be partnering with Welsh language experts Ateb, who will help ensure the service reflects and respects the linguistic and cultural identity of Wales.
