The role

Storm ID is an Edinburgh-based digital transformation consultancy that helps organisations accelerate their use of digital, data and AI. We believe in tailored solutions, assembling expert teams to address each client's unique needs. Our services span strategy, design, technology and data & AI, ensuring seamless end-to-end delivery of platforms, products and services with real-world impact.

What sets us apart is our commitment to long-lasting, data-driven, user-centered change. We enjoy close collaboration between our teams, ensuring projects move smoothly from discovery to design to delivery. We recognise the crucial link between digital and data, creating intelligent services that leverage both.

We work with a range of clients across the Scottish and UK public and private sectors.

As an Graduate / Associate Digital Designer you’ll join the multi-disciplinary Creative Team of Content Designers, Digital Designers, User Researchers and Front-end Developers, working together to design and deliver digital products and services for clients across the public and private sectors.

From websites to complex digital services, you’ll help bring ideas to life through thoughtful, user-centred design, with plenty of support and mentoring from more experienced team members. This role is ideal if you’re early in your career, keen to learn fast, and ready to contribute to real projects.

About you

We know that many professionals will come from a variety of backgrounds, and we encourage and value people who bring unique perspectives and knowledge to our team.

You’ll be a good fit if:

  • You have some experience designing digital products or services, this might be from a first role, internship, freelance work, or strong self-initiated projects.
  • You’re comfortable working in tools like Figma to create prototypes and high-fidelity UI designs.
  • You have an interest in learning or some existing knowledge of HTML and CSS to work with code prototypes.
  • You care about usability and accessibility, not just how things look.
  • You are curious about user needs and open to feedback from research, testing and colleagues.
  • You can explain your design rationale and decisions clearly and are keen to keep learning from others.
  • You’re organised, reliable and able to manage your time across multiple tasks with support from more senior team members.
  • You like the idea of collaborating with content designers, designers, user researchers and front-end developers in an agile environment.
  • You have a portfolio (or selection of work) that shows how you think through and solve problems, not just final visuals
  • You have a demonstrable passion about design, typography, digital and technology.

One more thing – research indicates that marginalised groups of people may not apply for jobs unless they meet 100% of the qualifications. We also know that many professionals come from various backgrounds. We value people who bring unique perspectives and new knowledge to our team. If you believe you're qualified, but don't "check all the boxes", please submit an application.

What you'll do

  • Support the highly iterative design of user interfaces for websites, digital products and services across different devices.
  • Create prototypes and designs concepts under the guidance of senior designers.
  • Collaborate with User Researchers and Content Designers to understand user needs and help translate insights into clear design solutions.
  • Work with Front-end Developers to ensure designs are implemented accurately and consistently.
  • Contribute to design systems, component and pattern libraries for clients and internal projects.
  • Participate in design critiques, stand-ups and project ceremonies, sharing your work and learning from others.
  • Learn and apply accessibility and inclusive design principles in your work, with support from the wider team.
  • Keep learning about design, tools and best practice – and share what you learn with the team
