As an IT manager you will be responsible for the management and coordination of the company’s IT operations, including systems, services and infrastructure development, data management and security, and day-to-day support of these and our end users to meet the company’s business requirements and help user productivity.
This is role requires hands-on IT skills and experience, as well as the ability to think strategically and creatively, and deliver improvements.
You will have experience working as an IT manager or a lead IT support engineer or similar role and be looking to grow your career in IT management. You’ll have good organisation skills and be able to communicate at all levels within a business, with a strong focus on collaboration and internal customer service.
You’ll have working knowledge and experience with:
- providing technical support to end users and managing a helpdesk
- managing and monitoring IT operations and services
- managing and monitoring networks (TCP-IP/DNS/Firewalls/VLANs)
- maintaining operating systems including Windows 11 and macOS
- Microsoft 365 configuration and management
- managing Azure Entra ID
- producing documentation for information and business systems
- vendor, supplier and asset management
Desirable:
- ITIL certification
- Microsoft certifications
- Managing a small team of engineers
- Leading IT improvement work
- Experience or familiarity with Microsoft Azure cloud services
- ARM/Bicep templating
- PowerShell scripting
- Information security management and data protection
- BCDR planning, implementation, management, documentation and recovery
- Defining, writing and maintaining IT policies and procedures
You’ll have a wide range of responsibilities and opportunities to learn. Core responsibilities will include:
- managing SaaS-based tools and subscriptions including Microsoft 365
- managing, supporting and maintaining Entra ID
- managing, supporting and maintaining networks and virtual networks
- planning and scheduling maintenance activities
- management of the IT helpdesk facility, including providing support to remote locations
- on-premise hardware support and maintenance including employee devices and networking equipment
- IT hardware and software purchasing
- documentation creation and maintenance for all systems including up-to-date user and administrator guides for IT systems
You’ll also have the opportunity for professional development and to learn about:
- hybrid cloud infrastructure design, build, support and maintenance in collaboration with cloud engineers
- implementing monitoring and telemetry for the hybrid cloud estate for performance, security and cost effectiveness
- automation of internal processes to provide efficiencies
- managing the IT budget including supplier management, cost management and financial reporting in line with standard operating procedures
- BCDR planning, implementation, management, documentation and recovery in line with standard operating procedures and in compliance with standards
- ensuring information security and data protection compliance for all parts of the business in accordance with policy which you will help to define and implement
- information security management including access management, implementation of policy through tooling and automation, vulnerability scanning, intrusion detection and prevention, and remedial activities in collaboration with security engineers
- ownership and management of IT related risks
- contributing to the attainment of security related certifications and accreditations
- Monitoring for, and removing, zombie apps and shadow IT
Storm ID staff are working in a hybrid model where you can work from home and from the office. This role will require the successful candidate to be available at our lovely offices in Leith 80% of the time, to provide colleagues with support, particularly in relation to hardware.
You’ll be able to meet key members of each team through an online induction programme and the wider team through virtual coffees/donuts.
You will be provided with a laptop and any other tools you need to enable you to interact with colleagues. You’ll be supported by an active and engaged Storm community on Slack and Microsoft Teams.
