We're looking for an experienced Accessibility Specialist to assess and improve the accessibility of key public services delivered by a Scottish public body. This role will identify barriers to accessing services (both within individual services and consistently across the organisation's public services) and set out clear recommendations for improvement.
You'll lead an accessibility audit, produce a final report to inform future transformation decisions and establish an accessibility register so risks can be formally managed through governance. Working closely with user centred design and content professionals, you'll bring strong accessibility expertise and the ability to build capability across the team.
Key responsibilities:
- Conduct an accessibility audit of key services, identifying barriers within individual services and across public services as a whole
- Produce a final report highlighting accessibility barriers and issues, informing Innovation and Transformation decisions and recommendations on which services should be reviewed next
- Create an accessibility register that defines and documents risks across services, to be formally managed by appropriate governance groups
- Support user centred design professionals to build their capacity to deliver user testing with people affected by accessibility barriers, documenting and upskilling on the associated issues and risks
- Support the Lead Content Designer to update content publishing standards for teams and individuals publishing on the CMS
- Support the Senior Content Designer to create guidance on when different components and patterns should be used, supporting integration of a form builder solution
