Wood Mackenzie is a leading research a consultancy business for the global natural resources sector. They have an internationally recognised and trusted brand that is known for its quality, integrity, accuracy and the expertise of their people.

Storm ID were appointed as a digital delivery partner to work with a design agency and with internal teams to deliver a fresh, compelling customer experience for their global corporate and e-commerce website.

The Insight

Key to the successful and timely delivery was establishing a single project team consisting of people from Storm ID and Wood Mackenzie’s technical and marketing divisions. This team was able to stay focused on the project objectives using a distributed agile development approach.

The project team mapped dependencies on internal systems and defined a realistic project delivery plan that supported agile delivery at pace of the site while also allowing for upgrade to internal systems.

  • Understand user needs and collaboratively defining a new content model with marketing team
  • Definition and iteration of information architecture, taxonomy, content types, micro formats and target user journeys
  • Technical analysis of system dependencies and definition of test plan


  • High fidelity HTML prototype illustrating 12 core user journeys across the site to demonstrate the target-user experience, content model and key functionality
  • Testing of the Alpha site with a representative set of external users
